School is a WEEK away!

Holy Moly! School starts next Wednesday with students! In the mean time, I'm jammed pack with professional development, working in my classroom and trying to soak up the last few days of summer. I've been in my room so much, that I haven't really even had time to blog! It's crazy. I'm almost ready for a classroom reveal though... I'm hoping it's all ready to go and the kids will enjoy being in here! Maybe I'll periscope it...who knows! Haha! I'm so overwhelmed with Periscope...I can't even keep up with all the teachers going live! I spent a week in Emporia, Kansas at the Kansas State Student Council Workshop and I tried to back away from all the technology. The workshop theme was "Leadership, Unplugged" ..fitting, right? I lost a lot of progress on random games I play on my phone, I got behind in the terrible drama filled TV shows I watch, and got behind in blogging/periscope. It's alright though, I learned a lot and had a fantastic week.

Sometimes, I have to remember to take a few steps back and relax. It will be okay, everything will be okay.

In-service actually has been rather beneficial! I've always loved OneNote...I think it's super beneficial for the classroom, for staff organization and organization for yourself. A former technology director, who now works for Microsoft, did a full day of training on it...and woah! I learned so much. It was awesome. I'm hoping to eliminate as much paper as possible in my classroom...that's my ultimate goal in life. I'm hoping in the future I can go completely paperless...but we'll see.

I'm hoping maybe Friday I'll be able to post pictures of my classroom, completed and ready to go! THAT'S THE GOAL!

I just wanted to check in with ya. :)

Monday Made It and My Stitch Fix! YAY!

Hello all! :)

Today I'm linking up with 4th Grade Frolics for our Monday Made It! Yay! I've been in my classroom a lot recently...but when trying to come up with things I've made.....the choices were slim. I've cleaned a lot! haha! I have two things that I made this week though....one for my classroom and one for home! :)

Number 1: I made my classroom toolbox that hopefully keeps me organized this year! The sad thing is that I didn't even really make it...I bought the toolbox from Lowe's and then bought the labels from TpT. Thank you to Mrs Cains Creations for the lovely tags! They were perfect! You can purchase them here!

Number 2: I made this wreath a few weeks ago, but I finally hung it up last week...so that counts, right? I'm trying to decide what to put in the middle...I'm super picky...so I haven't decided yet. But I learned how to make these at my mom's and they're not hard at all! It only took me about 30 minutes while I was watching TV! Not bad for my first try!

NOW ON TO THE EXCITING PART! I received my FIRST Stitch Fix today! :) YAY! My mom and I both signed up this month...so I'm excited for us to compare what we get...we're pretty similar statute, so this shall be fun!
First Piece: Market & Spruce Lana Lace Detail V-Neck Blouse..I loved this piece. I think it's a perfect school shirt, and it's super comfy...don't mind the face--had volleyball camp all day and I was too excited about my stitch fix..I came right home and tried it all on! I'm definitely keeping this piece!

Second Piece: Brixon Ivy Fallon Mixed Print Sleeveless Blouse. It's not a terrible top, and I think I would wear it...it just came down to not being able to afford the whole box! haha! :) It's loose and light and pretty comfy.I wasn't in LOVE with the pattern though. :(

Third Piece: Renee C Melisa Mixed Geo Print Pencil Skirt. OMG I LOVED THIS PIECE. It's made out of cotton, so it's super comfy! It's also easy to dress up. You can just wear a solid color v-neck, and then I have the option of one of my 100 cardigans or just a necklace of some sort and BAM! I have an outfit. DEFINITELY KEEPING!!!

Pieces Four and Five: Street Level Juno Small Folded Clutch and Dear John Finnegan Roll Cuff Short. I wasn't in love with either of these pieces. The shorts were black and were slightly faded...not my style and I just don't use clutch purses. I didn't feel a need for either of these pieces.  You can see them in a picture below!
Overall Molly, my lovely stylist did a fantastic job for my first stitch fix! I'm super excited for my next one already!! :) If you're not already getting a stitchfix...I totally recommend it!! Here's a link to get started: https://www.stitchfix.com/referral/5457939. Definitely give it a try...even if it's just a couple! You can even spread them out, or manually schedule them! :)

Much love,

Revival from the dead.

Hello all!

I haven't posted since August of 2014...that was a long time ago. After having Periscope take over my life...and stalking Lindsey from Miss Johnston's Journey and Jameson from Lessons with Coffee and Meg from A New Box of Crayons --I've decided to get back into the blogging world. If you haven't found these ladies....you need to check them out. They are all doing wonderful things...Lindsey and Jameson actually have planned a Midwest Blogger Meet Up all while planning their weddings...AMAZING. I have accomplished.....watching 5 shows--beginning to end on Netflix. Meg had an amazing Periscope last night that everyone needs to watch! She's so REAL and inspired me to get back into the blogging world.

A lot has changed since last August...I am super excited to get to coach JH Volleyball this year! YAY! I will still get to coach JH Basketball as well....coaching life is awesome life. You get to see your students in a different light outside of the classroom doing something they love to do. I am also still the high school Student Council Sponsor....my dream. I love StuCo! This fall will be my third year teaching...it also will be my third assistant principal. CRAZY.

It's summer...and I've been at school for probably 35 hours since Wednesday... I love it here at school...and I don't know why. Call me crazy. I know. They reimaged my computer this summer...which is great and all for the normal teacher...but for us teachers who have 100+ fonts installed on our computer...it's a pain! I spent close to 2 hours on Friday downloading/installing Kimberly Geswein's fonts back onto my computer. I have also been stalking TpT and getting some awesome things for my classroom...pictures AND CREDIT ;) to come later (maybe for Monday Made It!) My biggest accomplishment is organizing my classroom...the teacher before me left me a bunch of stuff (2 years ago), which is awesome and I've used some...but I'm finally parting ways with a lot of it! It's allowing my to have so much more room! Here's the mess I have now....

My goal this year is to become an active blogger, TpT-er, and a better collaborator on Social Media with other teachers! I want to have bloggy besties and other teachers across the world to talk to! My boyfriend of 4 years still just doesn't get the teaching life. Haha! I'm also subject to a lot of older teachers in my school...we're slowly getting the younger ones in here, but my first year I think the age gap from me to the next youngest teacher was close to 10 years...and there were only one or two that age...most of the teachers here could be my parents...which is a double edged sword. It's great for advice, but they are also quick to shoot down my new ideas because they didn't work in the past...which is frustrating! But hopefully blogging will help me become a better teacher! #midwesttribe #teachertribe

Now if only anyone reads this...haha.

Meet The Teacher {{Linky Party}}

Hello all, I thought this would be fun. I should be in bed, since it's the first day with kiddos tomorrow...but oh well!

I am 24, and am entering my 2nd year of teaching in a rural school district about an hour south of Kansas City, Kansas. I teach 7th Grade Social Studies and a 7/8th Grade US Geography elective. I love the kiddos, they are awesome. People always say "bless your heart" or "why would you pick middle school?" Well, I think I love middle school so much, because I act like a 7th grader. I love to have fun, and love to goof off with the students, while still learning at the same time.

I love hanging out with my boyfriend, Ben and our little baby, Lucy. She's the greatest kitty in the whole world. :)

I am also the high school student council sponsor, which is exhausting...but I LOVE IT. I love student council. It's the greatest thing in school. I get to work with the school's greatest leaders to make change and make people feel awesome throughout the school year.

I also coach. I know, I just do it all. I coach 7th grade girls basketball and 7/8th grade girls track. This will be my first year with the basketball team, but I'm excited to get back into more coaching duties. I love to coach. It's a great way to see my students out of the academic world and see them excel in something they truly like. It's awesome!

THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS...

Chevron. Zebras. Crafting. Softball. Volleyball. Pink. Sleep. Dr. Pepper.

IF YOU WEREN'T A TEACHER, WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO BE?
I tossed around the idea of an interior designer when I was growing up. Then shifted it to a graphic designer because I love creating things, and was better on a computer. Now I just craft.

THREE LITTLE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOU.
Social.  Determined. Emotional.

FINISH THE SENTENCE, "________,  SAID NO TEACHER EVER!!"

"I just love spending my plan time in IEP meetings....said no teacher ever!"

Q: IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY AND YOU CAN INVITE ANYONE {DEAD OR ALIVE} TO THE PARTY. WHO ARE YOU INVITING?

Gerard Butler or Ryan Reynolds. Yum.

Q: IF SOMEONE WROTE A BOOK ABOUT YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD BE THE TITLE?

The Lady Who Sleeps at the School. The faculty and students both believe I never leave the school.

Q:YOU GET TO PICK ONE SUPERPOWER. WHAT IS IT?

I think the ability to read minds. I would love to know (I think) what some of my 7th graders are thinking sometimes.

Q: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE OR SAYING?

"You were made to be awesome." --Kid President

Q: IF YOU HAD TO SING ONE SONG ON AMERICAN IDOL, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I think I would probably sing "Hit Me Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears.

That's a total classic. I love when it comes on the radio.

Q: ARE YOU A MORNING PERSON OR A NIGHT OWL?

I used to be a night owl, but now a days I can't stay up past midnight. However, I struggle to get up in the morning too. However, I think I'm pretty cheerful in the morning, and pretty quickly, so maybe more a morning person.

Q: SHARE SOMETHING WE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU!

I used to be a college athlete. I was on the rowing team at Kansas State University. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I loved the people, the experiences, and the mental toughness that goes a long with being a D1 athlete.

Wordless Wednesday: First Day of Schooooool

I'm pairing up with Miss DeCarbo for Wordless Wednesday! I have words with this one, but it's all summed up in my picture at the end! :)
http://secondgradesugarandspice.blogspot.com/
EEKS! Tomorrow is the first day of school and I'm not nearly ready. However, I have to be...because it's coming.

Year Two! I am excited that I'm no longer a first year teacher...I'm experienced, right? Everything should be easier, more organized, and less stressful than year one? Well that's not nearly how I feel. I feel 100x more stressed than I did last year. I felt like I was super organized last year, and that's not the case this year. I'm starting to freak out a little bit. More than I did last year, probably not a good thing.

On top of it all, my step-dad is having open heart surgery on Monday! So I have to get everything ready for the last two days, PLUS sub plans for Monday and possibly Tuesday!

I feel like my list is 100 miles long, and I don't know where to start, but I'm sure everything will go over perfect! I over react. A LOT. I know that. I know everything will go fine, and if it doesn't....life will go on. This doesn't stop me from not sleeping tonight, stressing out, and arriving at school at 6am to make sure everything is in line.

I guess, I better sleep! Momma always told me to get a good night's rest before my first day of school!

With love,
Britt

Wordless Wednesday --A Day Late!

Now that I'm back into this blogging thing... I figured I would link up with Miss DeCarbo at Sugar and Spice for Wordless Wednesday!

These are some of the greatest people in the world. I was honored to spend a week with them learning about their student councils across the state. We laughed, we argued, we cried, we rejoiced, we played, we did it all. I'm so glad I chose to go to our State Workshop! :)

Yay!

With Love,
B

Summer is officially over...

Welp, inservice days start tomorrow...crazy how fast summer went.

I didn't blog nearly enough. I'm going to have to start this scheduling thing, so that way I'm more of a regular blogger... I may have to start this TpT thing too...it seems like all teachers are doing it. ;) and I may have to give into peer pressure.

I'm hoping to finish tiding up my classroom tomorrow, so I can take pictures and have a 'classroom reveal' oooo ahhhh. :)

I'm not nearly ready to have kiddos in my classroom next Thursday. I'm not ready to have a routine again, I like this laziness, do-whatever-I-want-when-I-want attitude I have. But complaining isn't going to make it come any later...it's here, and I need to buckle down and get ready!

I just recently starting following Mixing it up in Middle! AND while reading through her wonderful blog, she's having a giveaway because she reached 100 followers! :) I'm in the same boat, I don't think I blog as much because I don't have many readers...but some day, I'll get there! :)

Here's the link to her giveaway! Follower Giveaway

Welp, I think that's all for today..I'm going to have to start joining linky parties and scheduling them...I need to just put "Blog" in my planner, so it's scheduled that I have to blog! :)

With Love,

B
